What changed
- The city sold the landmark 1902 building to Underhill Associates for $1 plus $1.2 million in city redevelopment funding. The development agreement was signed in 2014 and finalized in October 2017.
- The 2017 plan estimated $5 million to renovate 7,000 sq ft of the original building, remove a non-historic 1939 addition, and add three one-story buildings, with a spring 2019 target.
- The first two restaurants, originally set for June 2019, opened in August 2019.
- B.A. Colonial opened in the original corner building on April 23, 2021, completing the announced restaurant lineup.
- Later reporting put the completed redevelopment cost at $6.7 million. The original announcement described four restaurant concepts; later coverage described five dining venues in the completed complex.
Why it changed
No public explanation has been given.
