Hudson Yards' eastern half opened in 2019, but the Western Yard over active rail tracks remains unbuilt. Related and Wynn dropped their casino proposal in May 2025; that withdrawal ended the casino plan, not every possible non-casino future for the Western Yard.

What changed
- The published Hudson Yards master plan by Kohn Pedersen Fox called for 16 total towers across two phases, with Phase 2 over the western rail yard including up to seven residential towers, an office building at 33rd Street and 11th Avenue, and a school serving pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
- The Western Yard remained unbuilt as of the August 2026 audit, with no verified construction start. The January 2026 start reported for 70 Hudson Yards concerns a separate eastern-area office project.
- Related and Wynn pursued a casino and mixed-use proposal for part of the site, then dropped the bid in May 2025 after local opposition. The casino plan is abandoned; Related's current materials still describe future Western Yards green space and a 750-seat school without a verified start date.
